The need for sustainable equalization systems to enhance battery performances is increasing as the electrical cars importance continues to rise. With that in mind, different techniques to promote cell balancing are studied in order to accomplish the specifications of the battery manufacture and the client in need. So, the motivation for this dissertation is focused on the study of all the topologies yet applied and furthermore in its application in a pack of Li-ion batteries.

 

The main goals of this dissertation are:

- study the different techniques used nowadays in balancing systems

- study the key characteristics of lithium batteries

- computational simulation of a group of selected techniques

- practical implementation of one of those topologies

- write dissertation with all the findings and results

As a semestral project this objectives may undergo changes in its course.

 

 

For computational simulation PowerSim and Matlab software will be used by taking advantage of the simcoupler module. 3 or 4 topologies will be simulated and analyzed for a further choice of one which suits best the specifications of the system we intend to implement.After validating the choice in matter I will jump to experimental implementation through a PCB previously designed for the system.
